Earmark

Find podcasts by searching the built-in directory, pasting a feed URL, or importing an OPML file from another app.

• Search: Tap the Discover tab and type a podcast name or topic.
• Add by URL: Go to Settings > Add Podcast by URL and paste an RSS feed link.
• OPML Import: Open an .opml file from Files or another app — Earmark will offer to import all feeds.

Subscribed podcasts appear in your Library. New episodes are checked automatically.

Tap any episode to start playback. The Now Playing screen shows:

• Scrubber: Drag to seek. Time remaining updates in real time.
• Speed control: Tap the speed badge to cycle through rates (0.5x–3.0x).
• Skip buttons: Configurable forward/back intervals (default 30s/15s).
• Chapters: If the episode has chapters, tap the chapters icon to browse and jump.

The mini player stays visible as you browse the app. Swipe it up for the full player.

Earmark processes audio through a real-time DSP pipeline for downloaded episodes:

• Voice Boost: Enhances vocal clarity. Great for talk-heavy shows.
• Smart Speed: Trims silence without changing pitch — saves time without the chipmunk effect.
• Trim Silence: Adjustable threshold to aggressively remove dead air.
• 10-Band EQ: Choose from presets (Spoken Word, Bass Boost, etc.) or create a custom profile.

Streaming episodes use a simplified audio pipeline. Download for the full DSP experience.

SmartFinish detects when you're near the end of an episode and automatically marks it as played. No more 98%-complete episodes sitting in your queue.

• Threshold: Set the remaining time (e.g., 2 minutes) at which an episode is auto-finished.
• Retention: Choose to keep or auto-delete the download after finishing.
• Undo: A 30-second toast appears so you can undo if needed.
• Per-podcast: Override the global setting for specific shows.

Manage offline listening and your playback queue:

• Auto-download: Enable per-podcast to automatically download new episodes on Wi-Fi.
• Queue: Long-press an episode or use the "Play Next" / "Play Last" options to manage your Up Next queue.
• Storage: View download storage usage in Settings and bulk-delete old downloads.
• Cellular: Control whether downloads are allowed on cellular data in Settings.

Earmark includes default playlists (Recently Updated, Unplayed, In Progress) and lets you create your own:

• Smart Playlists: Define filters (podcast, duration, date, played status) and the playlist auto-updates.
• Manual Playlists: Curate your own collections by adding episodes directly.
• Sorting: Sort by date, duration, podcast name, or custom order.

Set a sleep timer from the Now Playing screen:

• Duration: 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes.
• End of Episode: Playback stops when the current episode finishes.
• End of Chapter: Stops at the end of the current chapter (for chapter-enabled episodes).
• Fade-out: Volume gradually reduces in the final 30 seconds before stopping.

Earmark is fully integrated with CarPlay:

• Browse: Access your library, queue, and playlists from the car display.
• Now Playing: Full playback controls including speed and skip.
• Siri: "Hey Siri, play my podcast" — works with Earmark's App Intents for hands-free control.

Connect your iPhone to a CarPlay-enabled vehicle and Earmark appears automatically.

Tailor Earmark to your preferences:

• Per-podcast overrides: Set custom playback speed, skip intervals, SmartFinish threshold, and audio settings for individual podcasts.
• Appearance: Choose from custom app icons and color themes.
• Sync: Toggle iCloud sync on or off. Sign in with Apple to enable cross-device sync.
• Export: Export your subscriptions as OPML at any time.
